A problem without solution

Is it possible that poverty is a problem which no can can every solve? There are many people whose social conscience compels them to do something about the problem of poverty. In truly socialistic societies like the Scandinavian countries where incomes are higher than most, there is an advanced system of social welfare where a mnimun living standard is provided by the state. In essence, it is difficult to find any one really destitute in the Scandinavian countries.

A story is told of a missionary who wanted to give free vegetarian food to needy people in Sweden. He was politely turned down by all but one man who was getting on in years. After the man had a hearty meal, he offered his congratulations to his host for such a delicious meal and asked for his check.. In many developed countries there is a higher sense of responsibility for providing the basic necessities of life. However, in under-developed countries, the problem of poverty is beyond description.
